Job Description

Description Assists in an Early Childhood Services capacity in directly-operated centers and classrooms. Abide by applicable Agency rules and regulations. Accept classroom assignments as indicated by staff requirements. Act as a substitute in the classroom as well as the family service worker (FSW), working with both child and their families. Work closely with the Family Engagement Data Recorder. Aid students with their tasks, read to students, conduct activities that work to maintain previous teaching. Assimilate arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them. Assist assigned teacher in all areas of classroom management and instruction. Assist in serving meals to the children, utilizing a family style approach and in accordance with nutritional guidelines. Assist in setting up room and supplies to ensure a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom environment, preparing materials for class activities, that reflects children's learning and growth. Assume responsibility of small group and large group activities that emphasize active learning. Attend to children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, or changing their diapers. Complete and submit all reports assigned by supervisor. Demonstrate activities to children and encourage students to explore learning opportunities or persevere with challenging tasks. Ensure adherence to good safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe learning environment for the students. Interact appropriately with students, staff, and others in a positive and professional manner. Maintain current, complete, accurate and timely records as required by the program, and ensure their confidentiality. Meet with supervisor daily to submit completed assignments and discuss progress. Must attend all in-service training, pre-service training and workshops provided by the program. Provide responsive care to all children. Support activity in the early childhood and family, health and community services area. Responsibility to recruit and enroll children and families. Work assigned shifts and hours as needed.
