Job Description
Job Summary:
This position involves the management of assigned child support cases within the Modoc Nation Tribal Child Support Services program, with responsibility for activities associated with the establishment, enforcement, and/or modification of child support orders and obligations.Duties/Responsibilities :
- Interview custodial parents, non-custodial parents, and family members to obtain statements and gather information for establishing paternity, locating absent parents, and determining paternity
- Performs buccal swab paternity test
- Explains the requirements and process of calculating support payments to the non-custodial parent and custodial parents.
- Attempts to secure payments and persuade responsible parties to make payments without recourse to legal action.
- Recommends cases to child support attorney for legal enforcement remedies and testifies in court if necessary
- Accesses computerized databases and maintains computerized and physical files
- Provides case status information and interprets child support statues, regulations and procedures to the custodial parent and the non-custodial parent.
- May assist in the investigation of cases for the purpose of locating a client.
- May perform program mandated functions, including but not limited to customer & community outreach, quality assurance & program improvement, training, and any other functions as requested by the Director
- Prepares Record of Payments
- Calculating child support according to the approved guidelines
- Performs other job-related duties as required and assigned
Qualification/Experience/Education:
- High School Diploma or GED; bachelor's degree in social services desired
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must have the ability to maintain accurate, complete and confidential records
