JOB FUNCTION
Under the general supervision of Family Service Coordinator the Family Advocate assists in implementing the social services and parent involvement components in the Head Start center, as well as providing health support in compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards.

Bachelor's degree in one of these fields is preferred. Minimum three (3) years experience working with low-income, culturally diverse families. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills required; case management experience required. Training, experience, and skills in assisting parents of young children in advocating and decision making for their families. Experience in case management with teen parents, pregnant women, and/or families with infants and toddlers required for Family Consultants with Early Head Start. Knowledge of the community. Knowledge of and ability to comply with Head Start Performance Standards. Must be computer literate and possess a valid Oklahoma driver s license. Pre-employment drug screening and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background check required.
Knowledge:
Must be computer literate and have accurate typing skills as well as the ability to operate a variety of office equipment; Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal and analytical skills required; Community resources, methods and practices of health and safety precautions, providing age-appropriate education services and facilitating family involvement in program services; Ability to comply with Head Start Performance Standards.
