Job Description

The Director of Mt. Hope UMC Preschool is a fulltime employee. This Director position is responsible for directing, planning near term and future, organizing, staffing employees and volunteers, and growing the ministry of the Preschool. This team member should be someone who has the gifts and professional presence to represent Mount Hope UMC ministries within our church and in our community. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Staff Supervision Hire Personnel (Teachers, Aides, Summer Camp).
Maintain staff personnel files/ Child Abuse Clearances. Arrange Substitute List and secure substitutes for Staff when needed. Observe Staff formally and informally / oversee staff performance. Collect and review monthly lesson plans. Meet with Teachers twice a year to seek their input and review performance. Evaluate teachers/aides with a written evaluation once a year. Provide daily supervision and support of all Children's Center staff.
  • Registration Advertise and market the school for enrollment and growth. Register students throughout the year. Coordinate the annual registration in January. Write and mail to the parents the Registration letter/packet.
  • Program Supervise the day-to-day functioning of the program. Assume the responsibility for the development, revision and evaluation of curriculum. Organize school wide programs (Yearly programs, monthly programs, etc.) Manage classroom schedules.
  • Church Staff Relationship Work directly with Pastors, Church Staff and the Board to coordinate usage of room space, resources and school wide programming.
Attend Staff Meetings, Church Council, and other meetings where the school needs to be represented. Marketing/Publicity Make available any and all communication and publicity for the Children's Center within the church and the community. Look for opportunities to highlight the Children's Center within the church and in the community.
  • Special Concerns Work with classroom teachers on any special needs of individual children. Maintain networking with other early education professionals (Intermediate Unit of Delaware County) recommending to parents referrals to specialize as deemed necessary. Remain alert to signs of child abuse or neglect, reporting suspected cases as prescribed by State Law and Safer Sanctuary Policies.
  • Finances Work with the Bookkeeper on monthly tuition statements and late charges.
Submit Payroll information. Purchase all necessary supplies. Work with Pastors, Board and Finance Committee on the school's yearly budget as it relates to the church.
