STUDENT COUNCIL
QUALIFICATIONS:
Teacher able to relate to Middle School students in particular Listen to the students, guide them, help them make good choices
REPORTS TO
Principal
JOB GOAL
Promote/encourage leadership in our students
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Organize membership Assist in the writing and rehearsing of speeches Organize representative to homeroom Teach and conduct appropriate meeting protocol Arrange SC activities (dances, fundraisers, etc.) Supervise an organization that acts as a school-community liaison Conduct meetings and supervise events Assist students in developing leadership skills
TIME PERIOD
September through June
POINTS:
6 each middle school
APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF HOURS
Student council meetings take place before school, during the last part of the student lunch hour, or after school. The times depend on the activities the student council is involved in, or sponsoring at the time. During the student day: ½ hour During the teacher day (prep period, after school): 3 hours (some weeks less, some more) After school hours: (same as above)
