Summary of position : Coordinate the effective implementation of the Disabilities and Transition Service Areas of the Head Start Program. Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details): Work with other service areas and center staff to identify and refer children for evaluation who may need additional services. Review all staff and consultant observations and screening of children. Work with the family services team to assist with coordinating screenings for all children. Coordinate services to enrolled children with disabilities. Support families and staff to assist with coordinating appointments for children with agencies, clinics, and consultants for testing, diagnosis, treatment, and therapy for the child's special needs. Coordinate and/or communicate with appropriate contacts regarding parent(s) and child visits to support and interpret evaluation information and recommended services when necessary. Coordinate referrals for identified concerns with follow-up.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, or related field and experience in a preschool special needs area or preschool setting. Knowledge of growth and development processes of a young child. Communicate effectively with professionals and families of children with and without identified needs. Knowledge of various community agencies working with social/emotional and disability fields. Knowledge of services, supportive strategies, and experience working with a variety disabilities impacting preschool age children.
Schedule:
Full-time, 7 hours/day, 12 months/year
Salary:
Beginning at $29.65/hour (salary based on education level) Per Head Start Salary Scale
