South Carolina Retirement Yes State Insurance Programs Yes Annual Leave Yes Sick Leave Yes Position Description Advertised Job Summary This Quality Coach position is field-based in Charleston County, serving center, school-age, and family child care programs in the Lowcountry Region. It is a 12-month, full-time research grant position with benefits as part of South Carolina Child Care Resource & Referral (SC CCR&R) hosted at the USC College of Education Child Development Research Center. This position is part of the
SC CCR&R
team, which includes statewide Instructors/Training Coordinators (Quality Coaches) who provide technical assistance and professional development to early childhood programs and collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate services. This position requires reliable transportation and the ability to travel to conduct on-site visits to early childhood programs and perform other job duties. This position also requires delivery of services outside of typical business hours (evenings, weekends). For this position, the selected applicant must obtain two approvals, both from SC Endeavors, within 12 months of employment: (1) Approval as a South Carolina Certified Trainer Credential in all areas of child development (2) Approval as a South Carolina Certified Technical Assistance Provider. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials For this position, the selected applicant must obtain two approvals, both from SC Endeavors, within 12 months of employment: South Carolina Certified Trainer Credential in all areas of child development. South Carolina Certified Technical Assistance Provider. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, or a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, or a degree in an education-related field with a minimum of 18 credit hours documented on the transcript of core coursework in Early Childhood Education. Experience as an employee/owner of an early childhood setting (center-based, family-based) serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Experience conducting adult/family education trainings and providing technical assistance to implement program quality standards in an early childhood education setting. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of or demonstrated experience in the provision of technical assistance and training to child care providers in topics that include business start-up and planning, acquiring licensing status, maintaining quality services, and resolving corrective action plans. Knowledge of SC Child Care licensing requirements and ABC standards, and awareness of community services for children. Knowledge and experience in using tools to develop online training/courses/tutorials. Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills and computer skills that include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web-based software applications; have the ability to lift 50 lbs.; Ability to maintain reliable transportation to conduct on-site visits to early childhood programs and perform other job duties; Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Job Duties Job Duty Technical Assistance:
Collect, analyze, and use data from early childhood programs, licensing representatives, and community partners in the service delivery area to meet the diversity of early childhood settings (center, school-age, and family child care programs). Travel to early childhood programs to conduct on-site technical assistance and provide virtual technical assistance to assigned counties/regions and develop quality improvement plans in partnership with early childhood programs to maintain or increase program-wide quality levels. Implement and work with child care networks and/or Communities of Practice to enhance program quality and advocacy among child care programs. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 55
Job Duty Training:
Conduct and develop partnerships with appropriate organizations in the community to offer training opportunities for early childhood programs, families and/or community members. Develop training content and professional learning plans that encourage engagement in early childhood programs and include follow-up technical assistance, including traveling to conduct on-site/virtual sessions when appropriate, to help early childhood educators apply the knowledge gained in training to their programs.
