Position Description:
The Community Based Counselor will deliver comprehensive advocacy, crisis and therapeutic services for survivors of sexual assault/abuse and their loved ones in the community. Utilize and facilitate practices that create a trauma informed environment. Work with survivors with urgency, sensitivity, and professionalism. Demonstrate leadership in all manners of service delivery to clients and community. Work efficiently as a member of the direct service team per agency's mission, vision, and values. Travel to five counties (Richland, Lexington, Sumter, Newberry, and Clarendon) served as necessary.
Duties and Expectations:
Work within the community at partner locations to provide full range of therapeutic services to survivors of sexual assault/abuse and their loved ones using agency-selected, evidence-based best practice therapy models Provide case management services to include maintenance of client files for assigned case load Attend and actively participate in weekly supervision and department staff meetings Provide advocacy services to include making outside referrals, assisting with accessing resources, and coordinating with outside providers Assist with group facilitation as needed Maintain high confidentiality and privacy standards with client information Build relationships with other service providers and community partners Represent agency at various community meetings as needed Participate in on call rotation to provide 24-hour hospital accompaniment and hotline crisis support Participate in Emergency Contact on call rotation Use database and other systems for documenting and tracking services Ensure all grant, operating standards and program goals are met Ensures client data and clinical notes are entered in the agency database according to documentation standards within 24 hours of client contact Assist with facilitating training for Volunteer Advocates as necessary Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling, social work or related field required. SC licensure is required (i.e.
LPC-A, LPC, LMFT-A, LMFT, LMSW, LISW-CP
) Experience working with survivors of sexual assault and/or abuse highly preferred. Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and practices that create and support a trauma-informed environment for staff and survivors.
