Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate all the athletic programs on the middle school campus. Serve as a means of communication between coaches, athletic office and middle school administration. Work to unify, communicate and solve problems that arise involving athletics on campus. Assist the athletic department and the school administration in the hiring and evaluation process of all coaches. Actively participate in the assignments of coaches to various responsibilities, such as sport assignments and supervision responsibilities. Supervise coaches in their various assignments. Make coaches aware of UIL and district policies, as well as other state mandates. Disseminate information on a routine basis and as needed. Supervise and assist coaches with care and maintenance of athletic facilities. Communicate regularly with the campus principal and the athletic department regarding the campus athletic programs, providing updates, feedback, questions and addressing concerns in a timely manner. Be sure all requests for advances and reimbursements have all the necessary signatures and are filled out correctly. Be responsible for submitting to the athletic department a schedule of all sports on campus. Oversee all athletic schedules, travel and other details for the athletic teams. Monitor the grade reports of all students in the athletic program. See that all coaches maintain and care for their equipment by managing an accurate inventory of all equipment, supplies and budget processes. All sports inventories are to be submitted to the athletic department two weeks after the season has been completed. Perform administrative duties as assigned by the principal and athletic department. Maintain CPR/AED and first aid certification. LPISD Athletic Coaches Expectations Coaches are to abide by the Texas High School Coaches Code of Ethics, all University Interscholastic League (UIL) Ethics and Rules, as well as the school district's procedures and policies. Coaches are expected to be classroom teachers first and foremost, placing academics as our number one priority. Coaches are to be positive role models in action, dress and language. They are to be fair, honest, ethical and be team players, sharing athletes freely. They should stress integrity, discipline fairly, teach respect and good sportsmanship. Without exception, they should be positive leaders who teach athletes how to win humbly, lose graciously and be pro-active in community expectations to athletes and parents.
