Immediately Job DescriptionPrimary Purpose:
Promote, facilitate and develop parent/family engagement in Manor ISD. This includes building capacity for parent leadership in the District, working with community groups to engage and support parents, and identifying resources for parents and families. This position engages families to increase their awareness of opportunities in the district for their student and their family, as well as their role in creating a college and career culture at home and school.Education/Certification:
High School Diploma/GED Minimum of two years of college (preferred)Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word documentsExperience:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in education, social services, adult education, community organizations, or related fields and a Valid Driver's License Experience working with families from diverse cultures and economic backgroundsEssential Job Functions:
Organize and provide ongoing parent/family/community engagement trainings, conference, and meetings in coordination with the campus and vertical team principals, campus and district staff, and other community entities. Assist parents/families/community and staff in understanding district, state, and federal practices and policies (including the Title I family compact and parent involvement policy). Establish and maintain productive working relationships with campus staff and parents/families/community and community resource providers. Document program activities and outcomes, which will promote the identification of successful practices and the sharing of these practices. Collaborate closely with Student & Family Support Services and the Campus Advisory Team (CAT) Attend necessary staff development trainings. Strong communication skills & strong computer base experience in Excel, Word, Publisher, etc. Ability to work well with parents, students and the general public. Has a special interest in empowering parents to support their children's education, assist in college preparation, and participate in school functions. Has a strong interest in promoting good collaboration and communication among families, schools, and community resources. Coach parents on how to resolve conflicts, contact district/campus staff, and increase student success in school. Plans and implements family engagement events and activities that enhance the campus climate and community involvement, according to state and federal guidelines. Work with the counselor and Student Family Support Services to accomplish campus assigned tasks. Teach and facilitate the Parent Partners Program - Ability to advocate for the program. Well-organized, and able to manage time efficiently. Advance planning should include agendas, sign-in sheets, preparation of content of presentation, equipment set up, and any other necessary coordination. Ability to keep written records of family attendance in events. Communicate with families on a regular basis through: Face-to-face meetings, Newsletters, Calendar of events, Flyers, Personal texts, Phone calls to parents to invite, motivate, and inform of events, Social media, as appropriate. Home visits, as appropriate/needed. District home visit and travel policy is to be followed. Collect, analyze and report data regarding family engagement activities and participation. Recruit, supervise, and recognize parent volunteers informally and through formal parent recognition activities. Participate in appropriate professional development activities and opportunities - regular staff meetings and training. Identify community resources to provide support for family engagement. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.Professional Conduct:
