Assist with food preparation, serves appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements, and maintains high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements High School Diploma or GED preferred Food Handlers Certificate required (certificate to be obtained within 7 days of employment) Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check Special Knowledge and Skills Ability to understand food preparation, cleaning, and safety procedures Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment, tools and cleaning equipment Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations Ability to understand instructions and communicate in basic English Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, recipes, and procedure manuals Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies Ability to perform manual skills necessary for food service work Experience Experience in food service work, preferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Assist in preparing food according to a planned menu of tested, uniform recipes Prepare and serve food as directed by kitchen work schedule Prepare snack food items as directed by kitchen work schedule Rotate into all positions (meat, vegetable, salads, pastry, cash register, etc.) as required by kitchen work schedule Help serve food according to production sheet and manager instructions and in accordance with meal schedules, departmental policies, and procedures Assist with cleaning kitchen and food preparation area after meals have been served Follow and comply with safety and sanitation rules and regulations Store and handle food items, and supplies safely and in accordance with established procedures Keep kitchen and cafeteria areas clean and sanitary, as assigned Wash pots and pans, operate dishwasher, clean equipment, clean work surfaces, sweep and mop Maintain a clean and organized storage area and garbage collection area Moves tables, chairs and kitchen equipment for cleaning purposes, as required Report any unsafe conditions in a timely to your immediate supervisor to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel Work cooperatively with all personnel and students Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills Ability to use a personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the jobSupervisory Responsibilities:
