Adjunct Field Liaison- School of Social Work 45002467 907 Floyd Avenue, VCU Main Campus, Virginia, United States, 23284 Academic and Faculty Affairs Faculty Adjunct School Of Social Work MBU Add to favorites View favorites The VCU School of Social Work, Office of Field Education, is hiring field education liaisons to oversee the field education of social work students completing the MSW Program. Field Liaisons serve as a link between the School of Social Work, field instructor and student. The roles and responsibilities of the field liaison include:
  • Orienting students to the field course
  • Providing students with a syllabus outlining expectations for the field course
  • Facilitating monthly virtual class sessions
  • Reading and grading student field course work requirements in a timely manner
  • Assigning final field education grades based on all gathered course data, including but not limited to field instructor's evaluation, assessment of field course work, and information derived from liaison conferences
  • Providing feedback to students regarding their progress in field education providing consultation and support to students when there are difficulties in field education
  • Helping field instructors design meaningful field education experiences for students
  • Making virtual agency visits via video conferencing and maintaining ongoing contact with the field instructor and student
  • Being available to students and field instructors for consultation and problem solving
  • Adhering to the Office of Field Education's policies and practices to support student success in field education
  • Attending and actively participating in monthly virtual field liaison meetings
  • Working directly with the Office of Field Education when student or agency related issues arise
  • Participate in all field liaison trainings and orientations
  • Providing ongoing evaluation of the placement agency and field instructor's willingness and ability to provide learning opportunities and field instruction consistent with the learning objectives of the M.S.W. curriculum as set forth by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
  • Informing the student's adviser when the student is experiencing difficulty in field education or is at risk of failing field education
  • Other duties as assigned This is a part-time, non-benefited appointment
Salary:
$4,626 (full caseload, up to 17 students) $2,313 (half caseload, up to 11 students) Your application will become part of the Talent pool, which will be accessed only when an opening arises. If a suitable opening becomes available, we will review your qualifications. Please be aware that we are unable to hire applicants who are not already in the Talent pool. This position does not provide a formal pathway to full-time employment with Virginia Commonwealth University.
Required Qualifications:
  • MSW Degree from a CSWE accredited social work program
  • Minimum of three years post MSW practice experience
  • Previous field education experience as a field instructor or other social work education related experience
  • Flexibility in schedule during the traditional work day
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at
VCU Preferred Qualifications:
  • Served as field instructor for a minimum of two years
  • Five years of post MSW practice experience
  • Previous higher education teaching experience with a focus on social work education or a related field
  • Knowledge of non-profit and government social service agencies in the state of Virginia
