Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Youth Respite Provider/Mentor, where you will play a vital role in supporting children and adolescents with diverse needs. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing temporary relief for families and fostering positive growth and development in youth. You will create a safe, nurturing environment while engaging young individuals through mentoring, activities, and behavioral support. Your energetic approach will help empower youth to reach their full potential. Duties Provide engaging, supportive care to children and youth with disabilities or behavioral health challenges in a safe environment. Implement individualized activity plans that promote social skills, emotional regulation, and independence. Serve as a positive role model through mentoring, teaching conflict management, and encouraging healthy decision-making. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and team members to ensure consistent support tailored to each child's needs. Monitor youth behavior and intervene appropriately to de-escalate conflicts or challenging situations. Document care activities, behavioral observations, and progress notes accurately and promptly. Assist with daily routines such as meal times, recreational activities, and personal hygiene to foster independence. Qualifications Prior experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles, behavioral health strategies, or child welfare practices is advantageous. Strong skills in mentoring, conflict management, and teaching are essential for success in this role. Ability to remain energetic, patient, and compassionate while managing multiple responsibilities. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with families, team members, and community resources. Basic understanding of childcare practices and social work concepts related to child development. Must be committed to creating a positive environment that promotes safety, respect, and growth for all youth served.
