reviews $9.50 an hour - Part-time Under the direction of the Child Watch Coordinator, the Child Watch Staff are responsible for providing safe and nurturing child care for all children entering the YMCA Child Watch in harmony with the mission statement and policies of the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA. Monday-Saturday 7:15AM - noon or 4:15-7:30PM. Supervise children 4 weeks - 7 years of age. Represent the department by handling communications with parents and members. Identify the individual needs of children and provide care accordingly. Encourage and involve children in the appropriate group and/or individual play. Model and explain appropriate behavior. Address and redirect inappropriate behavior of children. Maintain participant attendance, emergency records, and other documentation as assigned. Ensure the safety and cleanliness of equipment and facilities. Develop positive relationships with parents and participants providing motivational support and guidance. At the discretion of the Child Watch Coordinator, attend staff meetings, workshops, and seminars to increase knowledge and skills. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary. Exemplify the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of job performance and in relationships with others. Minimum age of 18 years old Four Child Abuse Prevention Courses must be completed before the first shift and is paid training Upon hire, completion of YMCA-provided CPR and First Aid certifications within 60 days Must clear a background/criminal history check Strong verbal communications skills and excellent interpersonal skills Desire and ability to work with children of all ages May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms Must have excellent communication skills Free YMCA Household membership
