Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic Afterschool Coordinator/Teacher to lead engaging, safe, and enriching programs for children in our community. In this vital role, you will create a positive environment that fosters childhood development, encourages creativity, and promotes social-emotional learning. Your leadership will inspire children to explore new interests, develop essential skills, and build lasting friendships. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young lives while working in a dynamic, supportive setting. Responsibilities Plan and implement diverse afterschool activities that support early childhood education, sports coaching, theater, arts and crafts, and other enrichment programs. Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques and foster a respectful, inclusive environment for all children. Supervise children during activities, snack times, outdoor play, and transitions to ensure safety at all times. Coordinate with parents and guardians to communicate progress, address concerns, and provide updates on children's development. Maintain a safe environment by applying first aid when necessary and adhering to health and safety protocols. Support children with special needs by adapting activities and providing individualized attention in line with best practices in special education. Collaborate with team members to develop curriculum plans that promote childhood development and social skills growth. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or babysitting is highly desirable. Knowledge of classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques. Certification or training in first aid and CPR required or obtainable upon hire. Background in early childhood education or childhood development preferred. Experience working with children with special needs or in inclusive settings is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members. Ability to create a nurturing environment that supports emotional well-being and positive behavior.
