The After-school Mentor is responsible for the care and education of children in the YMCA's After-school and Out-of-School Care programs. This person must be able to work independently under general direction and is expected to determine how to prioritize and accomplish tasks. The mentor will be responsible for implementing daily activities, keeping program records up-to-date, and collecting and delivering parent payments. On-site locations for after-school site may vary. Sites are located across Wood County. Hours vary based on the amount of children attending between 2:00PM and 6:00PM, Monday- Friday.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education E xperience- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of (1) year of relevant work experience. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general procedures, and licensing regulations. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, membership, and the general public. Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
WV-DHHR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Promote and incorporate the YMCA core values and character development when dealing with members, program participants, partners, and staff. 2. Provide care and supervision for elementary school-aged children. 3. Practice the core competencies of early childhood educators as noted in Appendix 78-1A of the WV State Day Care Licensing Regulations. 4. Implement planned curriculum in an effort to meet the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, abilities, talents and individual style and pace of learning. 5. Participate in staff meetings & recommended training programs for professional growth and maintain necessary hours of professional training annually. 6. Assist parents as needed and encourage parent involvement. 7. Respond to parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
