The Medical Social Worker at North Mississippi Health Services plays a pivotal role by coordinating assessment of psychosocial factors, providing direct case work, evaluating patient/family response to treatment, and communicating with patients, staff, and physicians. The Medical Social Worker is responsible for documenting patient care, providing mental health services, and managing patient care fund budget. Extensive interaction with patients, families, hospital employees, physicians, and community resources necessitates strong human relations skills. |- JOB•FUNCTIONS•| | - |
Supervisory:
- Occasionally assesses the Social Worker's (BSW) treatment plans and quality of care.
Coordination:
- Coordinates assessment of psychosocial factors, direct case work, and community networking.
Evaluation:
- Evaluates psychosocial issues and patient/family response to treatment.
- Evaluates support systems and the strengths and weaknesses of the patient/caregiver environment.
Communication:
- Communicates goal progression and plan of care to patients, staff and physicians.
- Communicates agency mission and services to potential referral sources.
Records:
- Documents all patient care activities in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required N/A Provides mental health services for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of behavioral and emotional disorders for patients. Required N/A Assesses the psychosocial factors.
