Job Description

As a Group Facilitator, you will be at the heart of our therapeutic community. You'll lead engaging, purposeful group sessions that help clients develop coping skills, build resilience, and strengthen their recovery journey. Your presence will provide structure, encouragement, and a safe space for open dialogue—helping individuals feel seen, heard, and supported during one of the most critical phases of their healing. What You'll Do Facilitate daily group therapy sessions for clients at the inpatient level of care, using evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation. Create a supportive, inclusive environment where clients feel safe to share and participate. Collaborate with clinical staff to align group topics with individualized treatment plans. Monitor group dynamics and intervene appropriately to maintain a therapeutic atmosphere. Participate in de-escalation or crisis intervention when necessary, following established protocols. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of group attendance, participation, and progress. Contribute to program development by suggesting new group topics, activities, and resources. What You'll Bring Experience facilitating therapeutic or educational groups in a behavioral health, addiction treatment, or related setting. Knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and recovery principles. Strong communication, active listening, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to engage diverse groups and adapt facilitation style to meet varying needs. Relevant certification or degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field preferred (but not always required). CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Documentation & Treatment Coordination Complete timely, accurate group notes that reflect participation, progress, and clinical observations. Communicate relevant concerns or changes in patient presentation to the treatment team. Participate in clinical meetings, shift handoffs, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Safety, Ethics & Environment Management Uphold trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented, and culturally responsive practices. Support crisis‑prevention efforts by recognizing escalating behaviors and following de‑escalation protocols. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA, state regulations, and organizational policies. Ensure group spaces are safe, inclusive, and conducive to therapeutic work. Patient Engagement & Support Encourage participation while respecting individual readiness and limitations. Build rapport through empathy, professionalism, and consistent boundaries. Reinforce treatment goals and help patients apply skills learned in groups to daily routines. Provide brief 1:1 check‑ins when clinically appropriate and within scope. Required Qualifications Degree/License/ Certifications in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral health, or related field (or equivalent experience depending on state regulations). Experience facilitating groups in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or related settings. Working knowledge of addiction, co‑occurring disorders, trauma, and recovery models. Strong communication, conflict‑resolution, and group‑management skills. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment. Preferred Qualifications State licensure or certification (e.g., LAC, LMSW, CADAC, LISAC, or equivalent). Training in DBT, CBT, MI, trauma‑informed care, or other evidence‑based modalities. Experience in inpatient, residential, or crisis‑stabilization settings.
Pay:
