Qualifications A master's degree in counseling, psychology or social work OR currently enrolled in an MA program. Current registration with the BBS. 1+ year post graduate school, working with youth and their families Knowledge of legal and ethical standards of practice, including child abuse reporting laws. TB Test clearance within the last 2 years. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing crisis intervention, collaborating with school and community partners, delivering school-based services, and conducting trainings and presentations. Bilingual or multilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages commonly spoken in the communities served Position Summary Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the School and Clinic Based Mental Health Clinician is responsible for performing therapy in a manner that is consistent with the legal and ethical standards set by the professional field and the YMCA of Greater San Francisco's mission. This school-based position is responsible for coordinating counseling services at assigned school campuses, including providing assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention and case management with youth, in collaboration with school personnel.

Job Responsibilities School and Community Collaboration:

Build and maintain positive relationships with school administration and personnel. Serve as a referral source for school faculty, parents/caregivers, and community members regarding mental health and safety concerns. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to support school climate initiatives. Represent the YGSF and Youth Service Bureau within the school and community.

Therapeutic Services:

Provide individual, family, and group counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and referrals for school-based and clinic clients. Services may be delivered virtually, on school campuses, or at Mental Health Services clinic locations. Facilitate interventions and referrals to service providers. Carry a clinical caseload that is in ratio to the number of hours in clinic site. Maintain a balanced caseload based on school site hours. Deliver workshops for students, staff, and parents on mental health and safety topics.

Training and Education:

Provide training to the school faculty and staff on mental health and safety topics.

Program and Case Management:

Achieve program goals related to assessments, group sessions, workshops, and individual family sessions. Track and report service statistics accurately. Ensure timely and accurate service documentation.

Clinical Supervision and Professional Development:

Participate in programmatic and clinical supervision with the program director. Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Documentation and Confidentiality:

Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records. Provide appropriate referral resources to families. Communicate effectively with the clinical team. Work Environment & Physical Demands This position operates primarily in school-based settings and may also provide services at clinic locations, community sites, or through virtual platforms. The role requires frequent interaction with students, families, school personnel, and community partners. Responsibilities include conducting counseling sessions, crisis response activities, case management, meetings, and trainings. The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while providing counseling services and completing documentation; stand, walk, and move throughout school campuses and clinic facilities; and use a computer and standard office equipment on a regular basis. Occasional lifting and carrying of program materials and supplies up to 20 pounds may be required. The clinician must be able to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone.
