Position Summary:
The Mental Health Professional will work in partnership with New Castle County Public Safety (NCCPS) to triage emergency, mental-health related calls in the 911 operations call center.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assess the health and safety needs of those involved in each call Determine what resource is best suited and whether it should be led by law enforcement, emergency medical services, or a mental health professional Divert those in need of mental health support from encountering the criminal justice system, whenever possible Track the number of calls received, calls diverted to 911, calls returned to 911, referrals made, follow-ups, and the number of Behavioral Health Unit referrals Attend mandatory trainings and regularly scheduled meetings to help develop and manage the program Collect data and develop reports as required Submit monthly timesheet/invoice for hours completed
Education & Experience:
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field At least five (5) years' mental health professional experience Flexibility to work a rotating shift in the 911 call center Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) Hospital/crisis background preferred Experience with law enforcement preferred
