Job Description SUMMARY Our Clinicians are responsible for implementing individual and group therapeutic interventions for K-12 students enrolled in our programs; they are also responsible for facilitating group and individual counseling sessions. This position will work closely with other colleagues within the school in developing a client-focused treatment plan for all students to assess their needs. Clinicians are responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment designed for students to learn the pro-social skills necessary to succeed in a traditional classroom, within their families, and amongst their community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Designs the layout and sensory elements of the school to ensure a therapeutic milieu.
  • Provides direct mental health services to K-12 students that will include intake assessments, individual therapy, and group counseling.
  • Provides social skills group counseling to students weekly utilizing the Skill Streaming curriculum, Zones of Regulation, Learning to Breathe Curriculum, or other evidence-based practices.
  • Completes individual/group progress notes for each session in a timely manner.
  • Support and develop crisis interventions as needed.
  • Collect and enter SSFS and Skill Streaming data on students quarterly.
  • Analyze clinical data for each student (UCLA, Skillstreaming and SFSS) quarterly with counseling staff to design effective treatment approaches.
  • Creates mid-year and end of the year district data reports, for monitoring the overall performance and effectiveness of services provided.
  • Completes individual service plans (Treatment Plans), along with other classroom team members in a timely manner.
  • Makes appropriate referrals for outside services in order to manage unresponsive symptoms affecting student functioning when needed.
  • Maintains regular contact with parent/guardian of each student.
  • Provides ongoing support and psychoeducation of mental health disorders for parents/guardians.
  • Train staff in therapeutic supports and interventions.
  • Maintains regular contact with outside providers to coordinate care.
  • Participates in weekly treatment team meetings.
  • Participates in all scheduled professional development days.
  • Completes other duties as assigned
OTHER DUTIES
  • Participates and utilize restorative practices and trauma informed care approaches regularly to enhance workplace culture with staff, students and families served.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. TRAVEL
  • The Clinician will generally work within one school location, but will be required to travel from time to time to other nearby locations.
The clinician will occasionally provide family-based therapy at a student's home.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or School Counseling.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training, licensure preferred.
