Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Intern for a School Based Counselor position to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity in mental health counseling within the school environment, supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. You will provide evidence-based counseling services, collaborate with educators and families, and contribute to creating a safe, inclusive space for student growth and development. Your role will be instrumental in fostering resilience and positive outcomes for children and youth facing diverse challenges. As a Registered intern you will receive free supervision towards licensure. Duties Conduct individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment-based therapy for children, and trauma-informed care to support students' mental health needs. Implement behavioral management strategies and conflict management techniques to promote positive behavior within the school setting. Perform comprehensive student assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring timely support for students experiencing emotional or behavioral crises. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans that address each student's unique needs. Maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation standards while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality. Facilitate culturally sensitive counseling sessions that respect diverse backgrounds and promote inclusive practices. Participate in professional development opportunities focused on adolescent development, special education, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD care, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays. Requirements Must currently be a Registered intern in the state of Florida or eligible to apply to become registered. Demonstrated knowledge of child & family counseling, school-based counseling, and adolescent development principles. Experience working with children or youth in educational or clinical settings is highly preferred. Familiarity with crisis management, crisis intervention techniques, and trauma-informed care approaches. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical documentation standards, and mental health assessment tools. Ability to apply evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and behavioral health strategies effectively. Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, educators, and healthcare professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and professional ethics. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy while managing conflict effectively within a school environment. Pay:
$32.00 - $36.00 per hour
