Job Description

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Family Support Specialist is a non-exempt position responsible for providing on-site, individual, and family intervention. This individual works as a team member with a case manager, foster parents, primary caregivers, guardian ad litem, and other appropriate professionals. The Family Support Specialist provides assistance, intervention, and education related to issues such as substance abuse, adjustment and relationship issues, stress, daily living skills, budget training, and employment assistance. Provide transportation and supervision of children and case participants, including individuals with medical and behavioral health needs Provide, strengthen, and maintain a positive mentoring role by providing support, training, and crisis intervention to foster parents, birth parents, primary caregiver(s), and other team members involved in the case, to ensure child safety and well-being Assist in developing and implementing activities/tasks directed to each child, parent, and/or caregiver, according to the case plan goals and objectives Provide completed documentation for services rendered within required timeframes to case management program staff with the necessary verbal and written information to present at court and staffings Participate in on-call rotation in accordance with agency policy and program procedure Attend and participate in court proceedings, as appropriate and/or when required (subpoena, direct request, and when determined necessary) Perform all other duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE
Flexibility is required. Schedules will vary according to the needs of the clients.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children and/or families within a need-identified social welfare system. Child Welfare experience preferred. Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds Ability to work in high-stress situations Ability to work with individuals who exhibit physically and/or verbally aggressive behaviors This position operates outside of the standard 9-to-5 business hours. Flexibility is required. Schedules created with the supervisor are based on the needs of the clients we serve, which can vary and change over time Must use personal vehicle to transport clients Must have a valid driver's license with proof of auto insurance coverage.
