This role provides counseling, behavioral consultation, and family support as part of a nationally recognized transdisciplinary neurorehabilitation team serving individuals with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, stroke, and other neurological conditions.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday (occasional flexibility based on program needs)
Hours:
Typically 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Ankeny, Iowa Responsibilities of the Licensed Mental Health Counselor /
Licensed Independent Social Worker:
Complete comprehensive psychosocial and neurobehavioral health assessments. Provide individual and family counseling throughout the rehabilitation process. Support adjustment to injury, disability, grief, identity changes, and life transitions. Collaborate with the transdisciplinary team to develop person-centered neurobehavioral and emotional support plans. Participate in family conferences, care planning meetings, and discharge planning. Provide consultation and education to staff regarding neurobehavioral, emotional, and psychosocial needs. Complete timely documentation including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Licensed Independent Social Worker:
Current Iowa licensure as an LMHC, LPC, LISW, or eligibility to obtain Iowa licensure. Experience providing counseling to adults in a healthcare, rehabilitation, or behavioral health setting. Strong assessment, communication, documentation, and transdisciplinary collaboration skills. Ability to maintain CPR certification (training provided if needed).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals with acquired brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, or other neurological conditions. Experience providing family counseling and facilitating transdisciplinary care planning. Knowledge of neurobehavioral interventions, adjustment to disability, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), or trauma-informed care. Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) credential or willingness to obtain within one year of employment.
