We are seeking passionate\r\nindividuals for our Mental Health Professional\r\nCounselor Advanced role, so join\r\nour team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!\r\nThe position is the advanced level of professional counselor\r\nproviding expert clinical and therapeutic services in behavioral health to the\r\nmost clinically demanding of youth involved with the Department of Juvenile Services.\r\n"Clinically Demanding Youth" include youth who have been ejected from treatment\r\nprograms, youth who are profoundly disabled due to mental illness, and youth\r\nwith complex behavioral health disorders. The professional counselor represents\r\nthe Behavioral Health Unit in DJS operated facilities & community offices\r\nby completing forensic and placement assessments, recommending youth for\r\nservices that will meet their needs, providing supportive mental health\r\nservices to identified youth, and mentoring lower-level professional counselors\r\nor interns.\r\nSome key\r\nresponsibilities of this position may include, but not be limited, to the\r\nfollowing:\r\n�\r\nComplete admissions\r\ninterviews, psychosocial evaluations, and behavioral health\r\nassessments.��\r\n�\r\nProvide supportive counseling\r\nand�facilitate psychoeducation groups.�\r\n�\r\nProvide crisis\r\nservices to include suicide risk assessments, debriefings, and service\r\nplans.�\r\n�\r\nProvide consultation\r\nand serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team.�\r\n�\r\nMaintain timely and\r\naccurate clinical documentation and reports in compliance with DJS, COMAR, and\r\nlicensing standards.\r\n•

Important:

�The work schedule will be either 10:00 a.m. to\r\n6:30 p.m. OR 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on facility and client needs.\r\n•

Note:

This position requires\r\nemergency on-call coverage in a rotational schedule with other\r\nlicensed/certified behavioral health clinicians.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Professional Counselors.\r\n

Experience:

Two (2) years of experience providing professional counseling to clients with mental health disorders by using assessment, evaluation, intervention, rehabilitation and treatment regimens.\r\n

Note:

1. These requirements are established by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. The Department of Budget and Management, Office of Personnel Services and Benefits does not have the authority to accept substitutions or equivalents.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Mental or Behavioral Health Counseling classifications or Mental or Behavioral Health Nursing and Specialist specialty codes in the counseling field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience\r\n providing gender-responsive and trauma-informed assessment and counseling\r\n services addressing the unique mental health and/or substance use needs of\r\n adolescent females within a residential juvenile justice or residential\r\n behavioral health setting\r\n Experience conducting\r\n psychosocial evaluations and behavioral health assessments with adolescent\r\n females\r\n Experience providing\r\n gender-responsive individual and group interventions that address areas that\r\n are relevant to many adolescent females, including self-worth, healthy\r\n relationships, trauma recovery, emotional wellness, body image, peer\r\n relationships, and life skills development\r\n Experience developing\r\n and implementing individualized treatment plans that incorporate\r\n gender-responsive principles\r\n Experience conducting\r\n suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and safety planning with youth\r\n populations\r\n Experience working\r\n collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team environment\r\n Bilingual skills or\r\n experience working with culturally diverse populations\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

\r\n1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.01.05, candidates placed in this classification must be licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.\r\n2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n \r\n\r\n
