Location:
Parkville, MD Job Overview New Age Psych Behavioral Health Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Counselor to join our team. This is an in-person, part-time position (24-30 hours per week) focused on supporting children and families who may be experiencing behavioral health, social, or family-related challenges. In this role, you will provide direct support to families, assist with crisis intervention, coordinate resources, and help promote stability and well-being. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping families navigate difficult situations and is committed to creating positive outcomes for children and caregivers. Responsibilities Conduct assessments to identify the needs of families and children. Develop and implement individualized support plans tailored to each family's unique situation. Provide crisis intervention and emotional support when immediate challenges arise. Collaborate with community resources, schools, healthcare providers, and social service agencies. Facilitate family meetings and provide guidance on communication and conflict resolution. Support families with parenting strategies and behavioral health resources. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, assessments, and progress notes. Advocate for clients and assist families in accessing appropriate community supports. Monitor ongoing cases and follow up to ensure families receive needed services. Requirements Experience working with children, adolescents, and families. Knowledge of child welfare, behavioral health, crisis intervention, or related services. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage challenging situations in a calm and supportive manner. Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
