Job Description

Job Description:
In compliance with the Michigan Mental Health Code, the Recipient Rights Office is responsible for investigating alleged rights violations, implement policies, procedures and practices to prevent future rights violations and to ensure compliance with all statutory and contractual obligations with respect to the rights of recipients.
Rights Recipient Coordinator Responsibilities:
1. Provides Recipient Rights training as requested. 2. Maintains the Recipient Rights Log. 3. Meets with patients on the Mental Health unit and responds to complaints within the required timelines stated by the Michigan Mental Health Code.
Rights Recipient Requirements:
1.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling or other health and human services field preferred. 2.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience as an advocate for mental health consumers preferred. 3.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS
: Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of regulatory entities, state and local law enforcement and other regulatory entities. 4.
ANALYTICAL DEMANDS
: Must have an understanding of professional standards of practice and ethics and confidentiality mies, regulations and standards. Must have good analytical and organizational skills, the ability manage multiple tasks simultaneously as well as excellent interpersonal and human relations skills with the ability to communicate with individuals wit a mental illness and/or developmental disability. 5.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
State of Michigan Recipient Rights training and certification is required and must be completed within 90 days of hire.
