JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE
Primary Therapist
DEFINITION
The primary therapist is responsible for providing quality, ethical, and effective clinical services to the agency and the clients within the agency.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
Clinical Director
RESPONSBILITIES
1. Provide clinical services in line with the agencies overall philosophy and mission statement. 2. Utilize and develop knowledge of the core functions of counseling. 3. Provide accurate and timely reports and record keeping in line with agency policies. 4. Have a clear understanding of the scope of practice for mental health counseling 5. Have a clear understanding of the expectations of JCAHO and Dept. of Behavior Health in MO. 6. Facilitate group and individual therapy, client education, family contact and other therapy as needed. 7. Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and counseling to clients. 8. Adhere to the code of ethics for mental health professionals 9. Participate in on-going CEU training, agency in-services, and staff meetings. 10. Utilize consultation and supervision from clinical supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience/Training:
1. Must possess a license/certification to be able to practice counseling in the state of MO. 2.
Special Skills:
1. The ability to listen to and understand individuals in need of personal attention. 2. The ability to evaluate a client's needs in dealing with mental health related problem. 3. The ability to firmly recommend and collaborate on a treatment plan for each client. 4. The ability to lead and facilitate group sessions of clients.
Knowledge:
1. An acute understanding of counseling and other treatment procedures for mental health related problems. 2. A vast knowledge of regulations concerning mental health treatment. 3. Working knowledge of DSMV and treatment procedures for such illnesses. 4. Must have enthusiasm, compassion, tact, a sense for detail in the diagnosis and treatment of healthcare issues of those suffering from mental illness.
Conditions of Employment:
1.This person must be of the conviction that mental health issues are treatable illnesses and constitute a public health problem. 2.This person must sign and oath of permanent confidentiality covering all client- related information. 3.This person must, on their own behalf, keep current all licensure and certifications that are applicable to their position in the state of Missouri 4.As with all other Midwest Recovery employees, the person in that position shall have no history or evidence of alcoholism or other drug misuse for a period of six (6) months immediately prior to the date of employment, and no misuse of alcohol or other drugs while employed with our agency. The staff member shall sign and date this job description to affirm the validity of the information herein. The Clinical Director shall also sign and date the job description to signify compliance with the conditions of employment, minimum qualifications, and an understanding of the job responsibilities.'
