Job Description
Job Purpose The Crisis Counselor is responsible for providing quality crisis assessment and intervention to individuals presenting to the Behavioral Health Crisis Center in a timely and responsible manner. Qualifications Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related Field Must have all necessary course work and meet all the requirements to be licensed within the State of Missouri, at a minimum be eligible to begin supervision OR Must meet the Department of Mental Health's Criteria for Qualified Mental Health Professional Core Job Duties Conduct Crisis Assessments to determine appropriate level of care. Provide Crisis Interventions. Maintains working knowledge of all civil involuntary detention procedures. Discharge/transition/aftercare plans completed accurately and in a timely manner. Provide lethal means counseling and complete safety plan with clients. Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models. Maintain client records, following agency and state regulations. Interface with other community partners such as law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, etc. Orally communicate information effectively and accurately. Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency's certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care. Abide by program and agency policies and procedures. Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
