Cedar Park Group is seeking an experienced Alcohol and Drug Counselor to provide prevention, education, counseling, and intervention services within a Job Corps center in Franklin, North Carolina. This position works closely with counselors, healthcare providers, educators, instructors, and recreation staff to support students in maintaining healthy, substance-free lifestyles and preparing for successful employment. Schedule and Pay 20 hours per week: Wednesday 1pm-5pm, Thursday and Fiday 8am - 4:30pm $25,27 per hour plus $5.55 per hour health and welfare 6 month contract with extensions Responsibilities Conduct ongoing individual counseling, support groups, and self-help programming focused on substance use intervention and prevention Coordinate student career and intervention plans with center counselors, healthcare providers, educators, and instructors Develop and update behavioral contracts that establish expected conduct throughout all areas of center life and in preparation for employment Evaluate self-help groups and arrange appropriate referrals and counseling services Collaborate with the recreation department to develop leisure activities and incentives that reinforce an alcohol- and drug-free lifestyle Coordinate and participate in Tobacco Use Prevention Program (TUPP) activities, Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles (HEALS) programming Requirements Must meet all education, experience, licensing, and certification requirements established in the Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) Must be able to obtain Department of Labor approval before beginning the assignment Knowledge of substance use prevention, intervention, counseling, and referral practices Understanding of drug-testing procedures and chain-of-custody requirements Ability to work effectively with adolescents and young adults from diverse backgrounds No time to submit an application?
