Sigma Health Services, LLC•Raleigh, NC Position Summary Sigma Health Services is seeking an experienced and engaging Licensed Clinical Staff member to serve as an SAIOP Group Facilitator for our Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program. The Group Facilitator will provide structured, recovery-focused substance use disorder treatment to adults participating in our ASAM Level 2.1 SAIOP program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions and will be comfortable facilitating structured therapeutic and psychoeducational groups. The facilitator will work collaboratively with the SAIOP Clinical Supervisor and treatment team to ensure services are individualized, clinically appropriate, recovery-focused, and consistent with each participant's Person-Centered Plan (PCP). Required Licensure Applicants must hold a valid North Carolina license and be in good standing in one of the following disciplines: Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate (LCAS-A) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) Primary Responsibilities Facilitate SAIOP group counseling, therapy, psychoeducation, and recovery-support activities. Deliver substance use-focused interventions consistent with ASAM Level 2.1 treatment. Provide interventions identified within each participant's Person-Centered Plan. Facilitate education and skill development related to: Relapse prevention Recovery and support systems Coping skills Life skills Crisis and safety planning Substance use education Physical health management Co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions Encourage active participation, accountability, and development of healthy recovery skills. Maintain a safe, respectful, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented group environment. Monitor participant presentation, engagement, progress, barriers, and potential clinical concerns. Communicate significant clinical concerns or changes in functioning to the SAIOP Clinical Supervisor. Assist with coordination and referrals for substance use treatment, recovery resources, MAT, medical services, behavioral health services, and other needed supports. Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary coordination as appropriate. Complete accurate and timely documentation of services provided. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, client rights, documentation standards, and applicable state requirements. Follow program procedures regarding crisis response, substance use concerns, drug screening, safety, and emergencies. Required Training SAIOP staff must complete required training in accordance with the
Level 2.1 Definition and Required Components Additional required training includes ASAM Criteria, Person-Centered Planning, Trauma-Informed Care, Co-Occurring Conditions, Motivational Interviewing, Pregnancy and SUD, designated treatment modalities, and annual continuing education as required by the service definition. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience facilitating substance use disorder treatment groups. Experience working within an SAIOP, SACOT, residential SUD, detoxification, outpatient SUD, or similar structured substance use treatment setting. Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and ASAM Level 2.1. Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Experience with motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, CBT, psychoeducation, or other evidence-based SUD interventions. Strong group management, communication, clinical documentation, and crisis intervention skills. Schedule Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:00 AM-12:00 PM The facilitator must be dependable and consistently available for scheduled groups. Additional administrative/documentation time may be required outside of direct group hours. Ideal Candidate We are looking for a clinician who can do more than present educational material. The ideal facilitator can engage participants, manage group dynamics, encourage meaningful discussion, maintain appropriate boundaries, and translate clinical concepts into practical recovery skills participants can use in their daily lives. Experience facilitating structured substance use treatment groups is strongly preferred.
