In partnership with Hudson County, this organization provides critical rehabilitation services within the corrections community, fostering positive, long-term lifestyle changes for residents during their incarceration and through their transition back into the community.
What You'll Do:
Clinical Caseload Management & Reintegration Advocacy Ensure a high standard of clinical care by managing a dedicated caseload of 12-15 residents within the Hudson County Correctional Center. You will guide clients through their entire recovery journey—from comprehensive intake assessments to group therapy and transitional housing discharge planning. Conduct a range of clinical and therapeutic rehabilitation services, including:
Clinical Therapy & Caseloads:
Provide dedicated individual and group substance abuse counseling (groups up to 50 residents) utilizing evidence-based curricula, motivational interviewing, and 12-step treatment methods.
Assessments & Diagnoses:
Complete detailed clinical assessments under the direction of your supervisor, utilizing DSM-5 criteria to identify mental health, personality, and substance use disorders, while justifying levels of care via ASAM criteria.
Documentation & System Entry:
Manage precise client data entry, intake referrals, service reviews, and discharge paperwork using EMR and NJSAMS systems.
Continuum of Care & Reintegration:
Dedicate 10-15% of the role to traveling to transitional housing locations in Newark and Secaucus. You will provide continued guidance, education, and resource coordination to support clients until they fully stabilize and transition out of services.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision, and workshops. Coordinate care and negotiate continued residential treatment with insurance companies, drug court task evaluators, and care coordinators.
Schedule & Location Work Week:
Standard Monday
  • Friday.
Available Shifts:
8:00 AM
  • 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM
  • 5:00 PM, or 10:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM.
(Candidates must be flexible and comfortable with all shift configurations).
Setting:
Hudson County Correctional Facility (High-security inpatient rehabilitation setting).
Work Address:
30-35 Hackensack Ave, Kearny, NJ 07032.
Travel Requirement:
10-15% local travel to transitional housing sites in Newark and Secaucus using a valid Driver's License.
Start Date:
Immediate (Candidates must be ready to start ASAP following onboarding clearance).
Who You Are:
Credentials & Qualifications Education & License:
Must hold a relevant Master's Degree (Social Work, Counseling, or Addiction fields) and an active New Jersey clinical license (LSW, LAC, LCADC, LPC, or LCSW).
Experience:
At least three (3) years of experience in human services fieldwork is highly preferred, alongside a background in substance abuse program delivery and evaluation.
Clinical Competence:
Deep understanding of the
DSM-5, ASAM
criteria, crisis management (including suicidal/homicidal risk assessments), and the ethical guidelines governing client care.
Setting Readiness:
Comfortable and confident working within a correctional facility environment with a diverse resident population.
Demographic & Language Preferences:
A valid Driver's License is required. Male candidates are highly preferred due to the facility setting. Bilingual Spanish candidates are highly sought after.
Compensation & Benefits Salary Ranges:
$60,000 to $65,000 (Strictly based on education, licensure, and credentials with no salary flexibility). Counselor III (Master's Degree + LSW, LAC, or LCADC): $60,000
