Driver's License Full Job Description Job Purpose Note:

Candidates must be bilingual in Spanish and have a license in social work, marriage and family therapy, or counseling. We will consider candidates who are state interns; however, they must have the license and an external supervisor. Wage is dependent on education level, licensure, and experience. The Victims Counselor is responsible for providing individual counseling services to clients of S.A.F.E. House, Inc. This position is responsible for ensuring program goals, objectives, and activities are implemented in accordance with specified polices. Also, the Victims Counselor will provide client services under the prescribed methods and procedures set forth in the program. Duties and Responsibilities Provide Direct Counseling Services Provide individual counseling to victims of domestic violence. Co-facilitate court mandated domestic violence classes for individuals charged with domestic violence. (Not upon hire. Potentially in the future.) Provide problem-solving, guidance, and life skills instruction to assigned caseload. Conduct and/or review client assessments, including Trauma Symptom Inventory and SASSI; discover strengths, prioritize needs, and identify barriers. Evaluate client's goals and provide information and referrals as needed. Provide crisis intervention, problem solving, and suicide risk assessment during emergencies, which may occur outside of normal business hours. Collaborate with other agency professionals during multi-disciplinary tracking team meetings in order to enhance services for assigned clients residing in the emergency shelter. Advocate between clients and other agencies to promote a wrap-around approach to meeting the client's needs. Maintain professional boundaries with clients, as well as operate within the scope of code of ethics associated with license, and all applicable legal confidentiality guidelines. Provide periodic follow-up services to maintain good client relations and measure success of services. Maintain accurate client files and documentation, as well as submit statistics and program reports on time and as required Actively Participate in Agency Development and Domestic Violence Prevention Participate in coordination of program implementation and attainment of program goals. Participate in agency planning to develop strategies which increase effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of outcome-oriented evaluation activities. Represent the agency in community or inter-agency activities. Present information at staff meetings, training classes, and/or public events. Additional Duties Attend monthly mandatory staff meetings. Learn about new developments in counseling by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies. Promote team cohesion across agency departments by acting as a team player and maintaining open lines of communication. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master's degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or related field required. Must be licensed in Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Clinical Professional Counselor (CPC) in the state of Nevada. May be in internship status if working with external certified Supervisor. Must obtain and maintain personal professional liability insurance coverage. At least 1 year experience working with domestic violence victims preferred. Ability to resolve conflict, communicate effectively, remain calm in crisis situations, and maintain a supportive demeanor at all times. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take initiative, and self-start. Possession of a current Nevada Driver's License. Bilingual in Spanish required. Working Conditions Typically works within the Administrative Office environment, however may be required to perform job duties outside of the office setting and at the emergency shelter location. May work with emotional, demanding, and difficult clients. May have to work weekends or in the evening. May be contacted via telephone during non-office hours when a client is experiencing a mental health related emergency. May have to use personal vehicle for business purposes. Physical and Mental Requirements Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. May be placed in situations that cause emotional stress, such as witnessing the effects of trauma, therefore ability to effectively handle stress is a requirement.
