Job Description
Position Title Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC I or LCDC II) Reports To Clinical Supervisor / Clinical Director Position Summary The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC I or LCDC II) provides assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, and recovery support services to individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns. The counselor works as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team to deliver evidence-based, client-centered care in accordance with Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS), CARF, Medicaid, and agency standards. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Services Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations. Develop individualized treatment plans, recovery goals, and discharge plans. Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions. Provide crisis intervention and relapse prevention counseling. Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated. Educate clients and families regarding addiction, recovery, and community resources. Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills and recovery support systems. Case Management Coordinate care with probation officers, parole officers, courts, healthcare providers, and community agencies. Assist clients in obtaining housing, employment, transportation, medical care, and other supportive services. Make referrals to appropriate levels of care, including detoxification, residential treatment, sober living, and mental health services. Advocate for clients while promoting accountability and self-sufficiency. Documentation & Compliance Complete all clinical documentation accurately and within required timeframes. Maintain progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, discharge summaries, and case management records. Ensure compliance with agency policies, OhioMHAS regulations, Medicaid billing requirements, HIPAA, and CARF standards. Participate in audits, quality assurance activities, and utilization reviews as required. Team Collaboration Participate in treatment team meetings and clinical supervision. Collaborate with peer supporters, case managers, therapists, and medical providers. Contribute to a positive and professional treatment environment. Maintain ethical standards consistent with Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board requirements. QualificationsLCDC II Requirements Current Ohio LCDC II license in good standing. Associate's degree or higher in Behavioral Science, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field preferred. Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery principles, and evidence-based treatment approaches. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
LCDC III/LCDC I
Requirements (Preferred) Current Ohio LCDC III or LCDC I license in good standing. Bachelor's degree or higher in Behavioral Science, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field preferred. Experience conducting diagnostic assessments and treatment planning. Experience working with justice-involved populations, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and co-occurring disorders preferred. Preferred Experience Minimum 1-3 years of experience in substance use disorder treatment. Experience providing Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Outpatient (OP), or Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) services. Familiarity with Ohio Medicaid documentation and billing requirements. Experience working with diverse populations including individuals involved with the criminal justice system. Required Skills Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles Relapse Prevention techniques Trauma-Informed Care practices Group facilitation skills Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques Time management and organizational skills Professional documentation and record keeping Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday. Ability to travel locally for meetings, community outreach, or client support as needed. Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer systems. Pay:
$26.00 - $38.00 per hour
