Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated mental health team as a Mental Health Counselor, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals across diverse populations. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to deliver psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and specialized treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs. Your expertise will help clients achieve meaningful progress and improved well-being through engaging therapeutic modalities. Duties Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards. Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and behavioral therapy. Provide individual, group, family, and child/youth therapy sessions using modalities like psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis. Engage in crisis management and crisis intervention to support clients experiencing acute mental health or behavioral issues. Document clinical notes accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Offer specialized counseling for conditions such as PTSD, addiction, grief, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and gender issues counseling. Requirements Bachelor's or master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related field; licensure or certification as required by state law for practicing counselors. Proven experience working in outpatient or inpatient settings. Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-focused approaches. Experience working with co-occurring disorders Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and clinical documentation standards. Proficiency in telehealth platforms and experience delivering telehealth therapy sessions preferred. Ability to handle crisis situations effectively while demonstrating excellent communication skills and cultural competence.
