The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substance abuse counseling and a passion for helping individuals navigate their challenges. This role involves providing therapeutic support to clients, through various counseling techniques tailored to their unique needs. The Counselor will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the overall well-being of clients while adhering to ethical standards and best practices in mental health care. Responsibilities Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address mental health issues, emotional challenges, and behavioral concerns. Utilize various therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing. Provide crisis intervention and management for clients in distress or experiencing acute psychological crises. Perform intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to develop personalized treatment plans. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for clients, including case management and referral services. Engage in clinical research and data collection to contribute to ongoing program development and improvement. Offer support for specific populations including those with developmental disabilities, PTSD, addiction issues, or chronic pain. Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on grief counseling, behavioral therapy, or art therapy as needed. Skills Proficiency in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing. Experience working with children and families in various settings including outpatient clinics or inpatient facilities. Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems for accurate medical documentation. Familiarity with telehealth practices and the ability to provide remote counseling services effectively. Strong understanding of behavioral health principles, patient assessment methods, and case management strategies. Ability to work with diverse populations including geriatrics, individuals with autism, or those requiring special education support. Excellent communication skills for effective patient care and collaboration with healthcare professionals. Commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as psychopharmacology, gender issues counseling, or applied behavior analysis.
