4 Positions About Laurel House Laurel House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Through safe shelter, counseling, advocacy, education, and community-based services, Laurel House helps survivors build safer, healthier futures. We are seeking four compassionate and skilled Part-Time Counselors to join our Counseling Department. These positions provide trauma-informed, client-centered counseling services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and related trauma. We currently have multiple openings available, including a Bilingual Spanish-Speaking Counselor position . Candidates with experience in mental health counseling, social services, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, behavioral health, and survivor advocacy are encouraged to apply. Position Overview The Counselor provides individual counseling, emotional support, crisis intervention, assessment, safety planning, and referrals to individuals receiving services through Laurel House programs. This position requires a compassionate professional who understands the impact of trauma and is committed to providing culturally responsive, empowerment-based services to survivors of domestic violence. Available PositionsPart-Time Counselor Positions Multiple openings available Approximately 24 hours per week Fully on-site Bilingual Spanish-Speaking Counselor Position One opening available 15-20 hours per week Spanish fluency (spoken and written) required Key Responsibilities Provide individual mental health counseling services to clients impacted by domestic violence and trauma Utilize trauma-informed, strengths-based, and empowerment-focused approaches Conduct client assessments, safety planning, and goal setting Provide crisis intervention and emotional support when needed Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and case notes Collaborate with advocates, case managers, shelter staff, and multidisciplinary teams Provide referrals to community resources and additional support services Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, case reviews, and required trainings Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards

Qualifications Required:

Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field Experience providing counseling, therapy, behavioral health, or social service support Strong understanding of trauma, crisis intervention, and safety planning Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Strong documentation and computer skills

Preferred:

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or related credential Experience working as a Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Counselor, or Behavioral Health Counselor Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, or crisis situations Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills (required for one position) Schedule & Work Environment Part-time positions available (15-24 hours per week) Fully on-site position Some flexibility may be required based on client and program needs Occasional evenings or weekends may be required Why Join Laurel House?
