Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults. Your expertise will help individuals navigate their mental health journeys through evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, and personalized treatment plans. Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to accurately identify client needs. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral therapy. Provide individual, group, family, and child/youth counseling sessions utilizing techniques like motivational interviewing, grief counseling, and behavior management strategies. Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety and stability. Document all clinical interactions meticulously in electronic health records (EHR/EMR), adhering to clinical documentation standards and HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities. Engage in ongoing clinical research and data collection to support evidence-based practice improvements and quality assurance initiatives. Skills Extensive experience in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and addiction counseling. Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques, behavior management, and trauma-informed care approaches. Strong background working with children, adolescents, individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, or co-occurring disorders. Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation; familiarity with CPT coding is a plus. Skilled in clinical documentation standards, medical terminology, treatment planning, and medical records management. Experience delivering telehealth therapy sessions using secure platforms while maintaining patient engagement and confidentiality. Ability to conduct mental health assessments for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and gender issues counseling. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, clinical ethical guidelines, and evidence-based practices within behavioral health settings. Excellent client communication skills with a compassionate approach that fosters trust and positive therapeutic relationships.
