Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Your expertise will help individuals navigate emotional challenges, develop coping strategies, and improve overall well-being through evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Responsibilities Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately identify mental health conditions. Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions employing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during acute episodes. Utilize motivational interviewing and behavior management techniques to foster client engagement and promote positive behavioral change. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate medical terminology and medical records review. Document all patient interactions meticulously in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical documentation. Provide specialized support for populations with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, chronic pain, addiction issues, grief, gender issues counseling, geriatrics, pediatrics, special education needs, and working with individuals with disabilities or in inpatient/outpatient settings. Engage in clinical research activities when applicable to enhance evidence-based practices within behavioral health services. Participate in intake assessments and case management activities to coordinate care effectively across various healthcare providers. Maintain ongoing professional development by staying current with ICD coding updates (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding standards, and advances in behavioral health therapies. Experience Proven experience providing mental health counseling within outpatient or inpatient settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, psychopharmacology support, and crisis intervention is essential. Experience working with children and adolescents in clinical or educational environments is advantageous. Familiarity with telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions is desirable. Prior work involving social work practices or case management within behavioral health or medical settings will strengthen your application. Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance is required. Experience supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities is a plus. $36.00 - $46.00 per hour
