Work Environment This position offers the flexibility of a remote work setting, ensuring you can provide care in a comfortable environment while staying connected with our outpatient team. Your standard work hours will be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, allowing for a balanced work-life integration. Despite the remote nature, we maintain a robust system of collaboration through weekly team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing training. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their specific therapeutic needs and creating tailored treatment plans. Provide individual and group counseling sessions, facilitating discussions around emotional challenges associated with aging and life transitions such as retirement, loss of loved ones, and declining health. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, nurses, and social workers to develop and implement comprehensive care strategies. Educate families and caregivers regarding effective communication techniques and strategies that promote emotional well-being among elderly individuals. Deliver grief and loss counseling to clients and their families, addressing the psychological impact of end-of-life issues through compassionate dialogue and support. Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs aimed at enhancing mental acuity and overall quality of life in elderly individuals, offering activities that promote engagement and cognitive health. Patient Population / Client Focus Your primary focus will be on supporting senior clients who face various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, and grief. Understanding the unique needs of this demographic will guide your therapeutic approach, helping to establish trust and rapport with elderly clients and their families. Many clients may also come from diverse cultural backgrounds, requiring a nuanced understanding of their values and perspectives. Qualifications A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution, ensuring a solid foundation in therapeutic practices. A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential, confirming your qualifications to practice in Massachusetts. A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in geriatric counseling or mental health support, demonstrating expertise in this specific area. Preferred Experience Advanced training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues, enhancing your capability to address client needs. Demonstrated experience in delivering effective counseling services to elderly individuals, particularly those grappling with complex mental health challenges. Familiarity with evidence-based interventions and therapeutic practices suited for the elderly, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused techniques. Strong interpersonal, communication, and empathy skills to foster positive relationships with geriatric clients and their families. Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive salary range of
USD 65,000 - 95,000
yearly, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with an attractive sign-on bonus.
