Job Description

Volunteer Behavioral Healthcare System is now seeking a Criminal Justice Liaison for the Williamson Co Area.

Starting Pay:

45,000 EDUCATION /

EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree required Master's degree preferred in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or related field License preferred, or must at least be license eligible.

EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with local criminal justice system to assist inmates with various aspects of mental health treatment and re-entry planning as well as those at risk for incarceration. Conduct mental health and substance use assessments, determine diagnosis and level of care needed for treatment. Based on level of need, provide recommendations to the judicial system. Complete referrals for treatment, referrals to community resources, work with inmate on release planning, and provide coordination of care. Work closely with treatment team to ensure coordination of services upon release. Will act as an advocate for the inmate. Will complete within the TNWits program the required assessments and accompanying documents for the appropriate level of care within the CJL program. The CJL if eligible, will be trained and certified as a Mandatory Pre-Screening Agent with the State of Tennessee for crisis services to conduct assessments in order to further expedite crisis assessments and referrals to the appropriate level of care including but not limited to out-patient, walk -in-center, observation, respite, crisis stabilization, detox or higher level of care. The CJL will open a minimum of 50 new eligible clients and conduct or participate in a minimum of 6 community events per year.

QUALIFICATIONS

(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Knowledge of mental illness, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. Prefer experience diagnosing mental illness and substance use disorders. Prefer experience working with adults in the criminal justice system, understanding of specific cultural issues and the region. Ability to interact with community members, participate as a team with judicial system and local jails.
