ROLE AND PURPOSE
The Care Clinic Therapist will provide counseling support and case management to Arlington ISD students in a therapeutic environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Master's Degree from Accredited College or University Must hold one of the below certifications: A Valid Texas License as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Associate. A Valid Texas License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). A Valid Texas License as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) A Valid Texas License as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). Alternatives to the above licenses may be considered per the approval of the G&C Director.
Demonstrate knowledge of concepts, principles and methodologies of individual and group counseling. Demonstrate knowledge of local and state laws governing private counseling. Demonstrate ability in decision-making, problem analysis, conflict resolution and long-term planning. Demonstrate knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication. Demonstrate ability to stay calm and focused in dealing with crises.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
I.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
Provide direct mental health and wellness services to students. Provide crisis, short-term (brief-therapy) individual and group counseling for students experiencing social/emotional issues. Demonstrate the ability to present information in one-on-one, small group and large group settings to students, parents and district staff. Assist students, parents and staff in locating available and appropriate referral sources. Adhere to following protocol and keeping accurate notes and documentation. Develop and implement intake interviews, assessments, appropriate counseling techniques and treatment plans.
II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
Maintain professional relationships conducive to cooperation and teamwork. Promote a positive, caring, confidential, welcoming environment. Exhibit honesty, integrity, dependability, competence, and a professional attitude in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
III. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
Stay up-to-date and knowledgeable of current research, techniques, practices, legislature, state policies and laws in therapeutic counseling in a private setting. Adhere to The Care Clinic guidelines and procedures.
IV. ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
Exhibit a high proficiency in computer usage. Exhibit a high proficiency in counseling techniques and strategies. Display a strong ability to work independently as a self-starter with excellent time management. Maintain a list of available family counseling agencies and have information available for clients
V. STUDENT MANAGEMENT
Consult with campus and district personnel, as well as parents and mental health agencies, in order to provide guidance on direct student support systems that provide safe student and campus supports.
VI. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Maintain a high level of integrity and service at all times. Adhere to ethical, legal and professional standards. Promote a positive image of the district and maintain a positive working relationship with parents, school district staff, and community organizations. Research and become familiar with district policies, procedures, and practices prior to taking action. Adhere to confidentiality laws in the conduct of district business.
VII. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
Pursue continuous professional growth. Attend all Huddles and Training. Seek, accept, and respond to coaching and feedback from supervisor, staff, and peers. Maintain a network of professional colleagues, membership in professional associations, attendance at relevant conferences, and exposure to professional literature in the area therapeutic counseling. Exhibit flexibility in the performance of assigned duties.
VIII. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively utilize leadership skills to coordinate student and staff support.
IX. MISCELLANEOUS
Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Guidance and Counseling. Hours may be irregular and prolonged to meet the needs of the program. X.
