Job Description
- Complete counseling intake for individuals, couples, families, teens, and groups.
- Provide counseling to individuals, couples, families, teens, and groups.
- Provide therapeutic group as needed or assigned.
- Write treatment plans and document clinical notes as required by TX LPC or
TSBSWE/NASW
Code of Ethics.- Decide on treatment methods and length of treatment, using supported theories.
- Enter data into Vela. Direct Client Services
- Share responsibility with all staff to respond to clients by answering the crisis hotline, advocating for clients through hospital and law enforcement accompaniments, follow-up services, and providing support for walk-in clients as needed.
- Serve as backup as staff-on-call to advocates on evenings and weeknights on a rotating basis.
- Provide support and guidance to SARC advocates about individual case issues or problems that arise as clients navigate support services and/or the criminal justice system.
- Provide crisis intervention through counseling, advocacy and/or consultation.
- Work closely with all agencies and professionals outside SARC who deliver services to sexual assault survivors to coordinate efforts, refine the community approach and improve client treatment through all systems.
- Prepare presentations and deliver material during assigned advocate training topic. Topic must be within scope of counselor competency. Other Job Responsibilities
- Attend meetings as scheduled.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
- Attend continuing education (conferences, trainings, reading) Education
Required:
Master's degree in mental health related field, holding a valid license as either anLPC, LPC
Intern, LMSW, LMFT or LCSW.Training Required:
Attend the entire SARC Advocate Training Program certified by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) immediately after hire (if not a current Volunteer Advocate). Applicants are subject to a criminal background check. Skills Needed- Demonstrated crisis intervention, supportive counseling skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management and program planning and development skills.
- Have reliable transportation and the ability to drive to rural locations in the Brazos Valley.
- Ability to find community resources and access them effectively for clients.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communications skills with ability to speak in a variety of public settings.
- Ability to work in a professional team environment.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
