Position Summary:

The Counselor provides trauma-informed, evidence-based behavioral health services to individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and related traumatic experiences. The Counselor is responsible for conducting comprehensive clinical assessments, identifying presenting concerns and treatment needs, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing individual and/or group psychotherapy consistent with professional scope of practice and agency standards. The Counselor utilizes clinical interventions to address trauma-related symptoms, anxiety, depression, interpersonal concerns, emotional regulation, coping skills, and other behavioral health needs. Services are provided within a survivor-centered, culturally responsive, strengths-based, and safety-focused framework, with attention to the impact of trauma on psychological, emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal functioning.

Role & Responsibilities:

Clinical Trauma Treatment Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and clinical assessments to identify presenting problems, risk factors, strengths, and treatment needs. Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and client-identified goals. Provide individual and/or group counseling using trauma-informed and evidence-based clinical interventions. Assess and respond appropriately to clinical risk, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, interpersonal violence, and other safety concerns. Provide crisis intervention, stabilization, safety planning, and appropriate referrals when clinically indicated. Utilize clinical approaches appropriate for trauma and related mental health concerns, such as cognitive behavioral, strengths-based, person-centered, and other evidence-informed interventions within the counselor's scope of practice. Monitor client progress toward treatment goals and modify interventions based on ongoing clinical assessment. Safety Planning and Survivor Support Conduct ongoing safety planning in collaboration with survivors to address risks related to domestic and sexual violence, suicidality and homicidally. Provide trauma-informed support that promotes empowerment, choice, and self-determination. Respond appropriately to crisis situations and coordinate with crisis services when needed. Maintain awareness of dynamics of domestic violence, trauma responses, lethality, and barriers to leaving. Collaboration and Coordination Collaborate with YWCA departments to ensure coordinated service delivery. Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and interdisciplinary team discussions. Communicate participant needs, barriers, and progress with relevant internal partners. Coordinate services with external mental health providers and community agencies. Data, Documentation, and Compliance Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation in accordance with YWCA policies and funding requirements. Ensure compliance with grant requirements, insurance and accreditation documentation standards, and confidentiality laws. Enter required data into YWCA databases and tracking systems. Support reporting, audits, and program evaluation activities as needed. Program Support and Professional Responsibilities Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to domestic violence, housing services, trauma-informed care, and trauma intervention best practices. Contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts within the Support Services Department. Maintain professional boundaries, ethical standards, and survivor-centered practice always. Support program operations and special initiatives as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position is required to provide supervision for clinical intern/practicum students. Qualifications Education

• Master's Degree (required) in social work, psychology, or related counseling field.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure, required.
• Experience working in a trauma informed care model of service provision, preferred.
• Bilingual capacity is preferred. Experience
• At least two years' experience working therapeutically within the counseling field, preferred
• At least one year of experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, preferred.
• Ability to be flexible and work effectively as an individual clinician and collaboratively with others.

Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, safety planning, and crisis intervention principles. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with program participants. Strong advocacy and resource navigation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize workload effectively. Proficiency with data systems, documentation standards, and Microsoft Office. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Additional Requirements Successful completion of criminal background and reference checks. Completion of required domestic and sexual violence training upon hire. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for community-based services.
