Mental Health Counselor Position This position is open to either an associate counselor working towards licensure or a licensed counselor. Soon to be graduate students are invited to apply. The hourly wage is based on level of experience. We are a small, close-knit counseling practice with a team that values serving people (of all ages) to improve their lives. Life's learning invites a counselor to join the practice, who is enthusiastic about being a part of a team, gets along well with others, has maturity, is creative and innovative with thinking and is enthusiastic to set a high standard, while thriving towards growth and learning, personally and professionally. We value a learning environment, creating innovative offerings and thinking outside of the box with the goals that we set individually and together. The practice has openings for 1 or 2 counselors (in the Spokane area) to offer in office and/or telehealth (a hybrid is possible) counseling to individuals and couples (multiple ages are served at Life's Learning). The position can be part or full time. It also can include weekends or evenings (if this is something the clinician is interested in). There is flexibility within the mission and needs with the practice. For part-time clinicians, the expected billable hour is 15-21 hours. It is a possibility to work less or more hours as well. For very part-time work, the minimum requirement is 15 hours direct service. A full-time clinician is expected to bill 22-25 hours minimum. Life's Learning nurtures a sound practice, balancing both hard work and personal life needs and wants. The hourly wage offered is for the direct service 53 minute hour or more. There is also a wage for indirect service hours. Supervision is paid to the employee for one hour a week towards licensure or in the form of consultation. This is a value of $90.00
  • 150 an hour.
Raises are given at 6 months, 1 year (annually after this) and with outstanding performance. Life's Learning also has an option for counselors to practice independently and pay for particular services such as rent, billing and supervision, while being a part of the Life's Learning group. This is a new offering being developed, so reach out to Suzanne with more detail if interested.
Responsibilities include:
Direct client care (individual, group, couples, family), diagnostic intake, treatment planning and paperwork, case management, attendance at practice supervision meetings or offerings, while also being a team player with back-up for vacation time with team members and various other options. There must be a willingness to be a part of a team that gets together for gatherings and to assist with needs for the interns on staff. We are looking for counselors to join our team, who want to set a strong, committed foundation with the practice And avoid unhealthy workplace behaviors. We serve kids as young as 5, teens, adults, family's and couples. Anyone that joins the practice may be asked to be flexible and diverse with who they serve balanced with nurturing your area of specialty. Suzanne is the owner of the practice. Her specialties include trauma, grief and loss, life transition, family of origin issues, depression and anxiety (just to name a few). With couples, she draws from Gottman, Emotion Focused Therapy, Imago Therapies and Esther Perel's work. She also utilizes expressive forms of therapy such as art and play, music, Sandplay and Gestalt. Suzanne is Certified in EMDR, trained with the Flash technique and she has been Certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional. She considers herself a therapist who is both humanistic and existential at her core, finding a place for Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, parts work and numerous other therapies, depending on the client's counseling needs. Suzanne is approved as a clinical supervisor in Washington state and has over 22 years of experience providing training, supervision and support with graduate interns, counselors (on numerous levels) and working with supervisors consulting or learning more about clinical supervision. She offers clinical supervision in the form of individual and small dyad group options. She also offers training opportunities biweekly. Suzanne is called upon often for consultation with licensed counselors and supervisors around a variety of professional needs. She also developed a program called, Counselor Conversations with other counselors in the community. Counselors that join the practice will get free biweekly or weekly supervision/consultation (depending on the need) and will be a part of the networking and connections made with other counselors in the community. We occasionally have masters level interns at the practice and value giving back to the profession. Candidates that join the team will be a part of their learning and will assist with scheduling needs with sharing office space. Life's Learning offers full medical and vision ($515 value) to full time employees after the 90 day probation period. Employees have an option to pay for a reasonably priced dental, vision plan and earn sick pay. Suzanne is paneled with most major insurance plans, including Medicaid, various EAP's and accepts clients who pay out-of-pocket as well. The probation period with the practice is 6 months. Vacation days are encouraged for full time employees, there are 6 paid holidays. For part-time employees, 2 holidays are offered. Employees who are full time earn 4 days vacation time per year after 6 months of employment. Each year of employment more vacation days are earned. Other benefits include, bonuses for performance based work, individual malpractice insurance offered under the group practice, flexibility around time off, including two weeks a year and being able to flex schedules or offer telehealth with time away. We also offer possibilities to earn an hourly wage for special projects with the practice or contracting for more income when you offer a training to other counselors, within your specially. Suzanne is an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), allowing her to offer training with CE's. Trainings offered will be offered at discount or for free to employees. Trainings that occur in house will be free and CE's can be earned for these. To conclude, Suzanne values relationships as the cornerstone to any team. Counseling is not just work for her, it is her life's purpose and draws from her values and is passion driven.
