Job Description

Overview The SUDP (Substance Use Disorder Professional) Trainee Bilingual in Spanish role is an exciting entry-level position designed to cultivate future experts in behavioral health and addiction treatment. As a Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside licensed clinicians, supporting individuals and families navigating substance use challenges. This paid apprenticeship offers a comprehensive introduction to clinical practices, including patient assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention, all within a supportive learning environment. Your enthusiasm for helping others combined with your desire to develop specialized skills will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those seeking recovery. We are looking for trainees in the Wenatchee area. All apprentices will earn an Associate's degree while gaining hands on professional experience. Next cohort starts September 2026! •Qualified candidates will be matched to employers seeking SUDP apprentices in the Wenatchee area. Ultimately, the employer will decide whether to move forward with a candidate and invite them to interview for the apprenticeship. Submitting your resume does not guarantee you an apprentice position as you must be selected by an employer. •Requirements Must be bilingual in Spanish. High school diploma required. Professional experience in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field with focus on addiction medicine or behavioral health, a plus. Experience or familiarity with crisis intervention strategies, crisis management protocols, and PTSD care is highly desirable. Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), medical records management, and CPT coding for billing purposes. Ability to perform patient assessments with sensitivity and professionalism while maintaining strict confidentiality per HIPAA regulations. Excellent communication skills for individual and group counseling sessions; experience with motivational interviewing is a plus. Ability to pass DSHS background check, and drug and alcohol screening. Since this apprenticeship leads to an Associate's degree, you should not currently be registered in a related degree program or have completed an SUDP Associates program. Duties Assist licensed clinicians in conducting patient assessments, intake interviews, and diagnostic evaluations using medical terminology and ICD coding standards (ICD-9, ICD-10). Support the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and group therapy sessions. Participate in crisis intervention and crisis management activities to ensure patient safety and stability during acute episodes. Document all patient interactions accurately within HIPAA-compliant medical records, ensuring thoroughness in medical documentation and adherence to confidentiality standards. Engage in case management activities, including patient care coordination, home and community care planning, and follow-up support to promote sustained recovery. Contribute to data collection efforts for research purposes related to addiction medicine, behavioral health outcomes, and treatment efficacy. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide child & family counseling, social work support, and behavioral health education tailored to individual needs.
