Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Social Work Intern to join our dynamic healthcare team. This paid internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in behavioral health, mental health counseling, and clinical social work within a multidisciplinary setting. As a Clinical Social Work Intern, you will support patient care through comprehensive assessments, therapeutic interventions, and case management, all while working closely with licensed professionals. This role is ideal for motivated individuals passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of diverse populations, including children, adults, and seniors. You will develop essential skills in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and medical documentation, preparing you for a future career in social work or mental health services. Responsibilities Conduct intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine patient needs and develop personalized care plans Assist with individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral therapy Support patients with mental health challenges including PTSD, addiction issues, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and Alzheimer's care Engage in crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure patient safety and stability during acute episodes Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems) while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate home and community-based care services for patients with complex needs Participate in clinical research activities, data collection, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes Experience Currently enrolled in an accredited Master's or Bachelor's program in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field with relevant coursework completed Prior experience or volunteer work involving child & family counseling, working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding systems is a plus Exposure to hospital settings or behavioral health environments is advantageous Knowledge of addiction counseling techniques, psychopharmacology basics, and crisis management strategies is desirable Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations including those with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy Join us in this impactful role where your dedication can truly transform lives!
