Duties vary by employer. Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) ? Job Description Position Summary The Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) delivers mental health and social services to clients experiencing emotional, behavioral, psychological, or social challenges. The LISW conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, provides therapy, coordinates care, and connects clients with community resources. Key Responsibilities Conduct psychosocial assessments and evaluations Develop individualized treatment and care plans Provide individual, family, and group therapy Maintain accurate clinical documentation and case notes Coordinate with physicians, counselors, schools, and community agencies Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments Advocate for clients and assist with resource navigation Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings Qualifications Master?s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program Current LISW license in the applicable state Clinical assessment and counseling experience preferred Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and treatment approaches Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage confidential information professionally Preferred Skills Crisis management Trauma-informed care Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Case management Cultural competency Time management and organization Work Settings Hospitals Mental health clinics Private practice Schools Community health organizations Rehabilitation centers Government agencies Salary Varies by location and experience, but LISWs in the U.S. commonly earn approximately $60,000?$95,000+ annually.
