Job Summary Job Title:
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR
Supervised by/Reports to:Director of Career Technical Education FLSA Status:
Exempt Job Goals:
1. To implement an educational program for the designated grade level and career technical subject area using the Alabama Course of Study for the Education and Training Cluster. 2. To prepare high school students for postsecondary education pathways and careers through dual enrollment opportunities in early childhood education, including preschool, childcare, and elementary education settings. 3. To serve as an integral part of the school system by facilitating instruction, credential attainment, dual enrollment opportunities, and career readiness experiences aligned to Alabama CTE standards and workforce needs.Qualifications:
1. Valid Alabama Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education (T67) or eligibility to obtain certification through the Alabama State Department of Education. 2. Meet Alabama Occupational Proficiency requirements for Early Childhood Education (T67), including required degree and/or documented teaching or occupational experience as outlined byALSDE. 3.
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. 4. Experience working with children birth through age five (ALSDE Early Childhood Program) and/or PreK-Grade 3 (Postsecondary Early Childhood Education Degree) preferred. 5. Ability to meet and maintain compliance with Alabama State Department of Education Career Technical Education standards, including Occupational Proficiency requirements (T67) and TAPE accountability measures. 6. Ability to facilitate and/or support student attainment of approved Career Readiness Indicators (CRI) and/or postsecondary opportunities aligned to the program, such as the Child Development Associate (CDA), Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT), dual enrollment coursework in Early Childhood Education, or other ALSDE-approved credentials. 7. Ability to develop and implement curriculum aligned to the Alabama Course of Study for Education and Training. 8. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills. 9. Effective interpersonal skills, with emphasis on collaboration with students, faculty, families, and community partners. 10. Ability to use technology to plan and provide instruction, manage student data, and maintain required documentation. 11. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities. 12. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. 13. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities. 2. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the Education and Training Career Cluster with emphasis in Early Childhood Education. 3. Implements the Alabama Course of Study for Early Childhood Education and ensures program compliance with ALSDE and TAPE requirements. 4. Develops and maintains a classroom laboratory environment that models developmentally appropriate practices for children birth through age five (ALSDE Early Childhood Program) and/or birth through age eight (Early Childhood Education Degree). 5. Instructs students in child growth and development, health and safety, classroom environments, observation and assessment, professionalism, and program management. 6. Teaches lesson planning, classroom management strategies, developmentally appropriate instructional practices, and family engagement. 7. Facilitates and supervises student participation in internships, work-based learning experiences, and/or on-site lab experiences in accordance with state and district guidelines. 8. Ensures instruction reflects current Alabama childcare regulations and safety standards. 9. Prepares students for credentialing assessments and postsecondary opportunities aligned to approved Career Readiness Indicators. 10. Establishes and maintains an active Career Technical Advisory Committee in accordance with ALSDE and TAPE guidelines. 11. Maintains partnerships with local childcare centers, preschools, and elementary schools to support internships and workforce alignment. 12. Provides instruction in workplace skills including punctuality, professionalism, communication, leadership, ethics, and collaboration. 13. Creates long-range instructional plans aligned with state curriculum priorities and student career goals. 14. Uses ongoing assessment, traditional and alternative, to monitor student progress and adjust instruction. 15. Interprets and uses data for instructional planning and program evaluation. 16. Administers standardized tests and credentialing assessments in accordance with state and district procedures. 17. Maintains accurate records of student credential attainment, internship hours, dual enrollment participation, and required program documentation. 18. Communicates high learning expectations for all students and promotes postsecondary readiness. 19. Engages in continuous professional growth and required ALSDE professional learning. 20. Supports school improvement initiatives by active participation in school activities, events, ceremonies, services, and programs. 21. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. 22. Other duties as assigned by Director of Career Technical Education.Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle instructional materials and equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee may occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Salary:
Salary to be established by the Limestone County Schools District Salary Schedule.Terms of Employment:
