We are rooted in warmth, safety, beauty, and intentional design, with deep respect for each child as a unique individual. We are growing into a larger licensed center serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and are seeking a nurturing Floater to help bring our philosophy to life in the classroom. This is an opportunity to join a thoughtful, collaborative team and help shape a high-quality early learning environment from the ground up. Position Overview The Floater acts as a flexible support staff member, helping to support all teachers in nurturing children by fostering a safe and engaging classroom environment. Key responsibilities include moving between classrooms to maintain required teacher-child-ratios, cover staff breaks, and support daily activities. The Floater works closely with all teachers to maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment. Responsibilities Classroom & Child Development Ensure the health, safety, and active supervision of children at all times (Title 22 compliance) Help to maintain appropriate ratios in classrooms Classroom coverage- covering breaks, lunches, absences Assist with daily care routines- Snack, naptime, diapering Support social-emotional growth through positive discipline and gentle guidance Compliance & Documentation Follow all California Community Care Licensing regulations Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing training Family & Team Collaboration Build warm, professional relationships with families Communicate regularly regarding children's progress Collaborate with all teacher and participate in staff meetings Qualifications Minimum 6 ECE units (including Child Growth & Development, Child, Family & Community, and Curriculum) Experience in a licensed early childhood center preferred Knowledge of toddler/preschool development preferred Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia experience preferred Current Pediatric CPR & First Aid (or ability to obtain) Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 35 lbs Ability to sit on the floor, bend, squat, and move throughout the day Ability to respond calmly in emergency situations Position Details Part-time Competitive pay based on experience Paid professional development Supportive, collaborative work environment
